Today I woke up to this.
You can’t really tell, but it’s RAIN, YAY.
If by YAY I mean aw, shit.
But I had told Elina, Meghan, and Beth (beth, if you have a blog, let me know, I’m sorry I forgot to ask you >.<) that I would meet them for a run, and so I couldn’t back out. =P So I had a small bowl of cereal (kashi + almond milk)…
….and got dressed to bear the elements.
I ran 2 miles to get to our meeting point, then we did a 4 mile loop, and then I ran the 2 miles back to my apartment- once I officially mapped it out, it came out to be 8.25 miles!
Total: 8.25 miles
Time: 1:20:02
Pace: 9:42
It felt great, despite the rain and wind. I haven’t run *with* people in SO long, that I had forgotten how easy it is to run faster and longer when you’re in a group. It’s amazing. I finished the four mile loop with them, and seriously felt like I could have done another 4 miles if I wanted to. But then as soon as I left the group to finish up the 2 miles back to my apartment, I felt like I hit a wall, simply because I was on my own. Buhhhhhh. I managed to finish up, albeit at a slightly slower pace, and make it home just fine. =)
I’m glad I had the group to go with. Otherwise, I’d probably just be waking up now. =P
Last night I made brussel sprouts. Well, by “made,” I mean I bought some fresh ones in the produce aisle and brought them home to cook them. The problem is… I had no idea how to cook them. Braise them? boil them? eat ‘em raw? steam them? oven-roast them? Too many options! You could put them in the toaster, or freeze them and eat em as icecream for all I know (“Why is my toaster on fire?!?!” or “ow, it tastes bad, and hard, and cold! my teeth hurt whaaaaa,” both probably not the best ideas). So I decided to boil them, and they ended up tasting delicious.
Little salt, little pepper…. yum.
I will definitely be cooking these again. Very delicious, very low points. =)
After my run today, I had a really crisp, tart Gala apple.
And a veggie burger on an Arnold Thin, with 1 laughing cow wedge and some salsa.
I feel pretty boring just blogging about my food, but I’ve made a decision to try to keep myself more accountable for what I eat through this blog. Taking pictures definitely helps me pause before I eat, and I think that’s a good idea.
Now, it’s time to relax. Happy Saturday, guys! =)

Yum, I love Brussel sprouts, mostly roasted with balsamic, olive oil, salt, and pepper. SO good and perfect for this weather. Great run this morning, I am so happy we did it!

Brussels sprouts are my favorite vegetable ever. Seriously. Ever. Isn’t it odd that it’s something people stereotypically hate? I also love meat loaf and onions, so maybe I’m just weird.
What kind of veggie burger is that? I wanted to buy some today but couldn’t decide what was the best kind.

It’s the Morningstar Farms mushroom lover’s veggie burger. I’m a huge fan of it. Also ,the spicy black bean ones are my FAVORITE. Oh my god, so good.

I love sprouts too. I would have loved to see them in ice cream form, so I’ll expect to see that next time!
